Founded in 1993, Second Chance Companions is a 501(c) 3 non-profit pet organization dedicated to helping animals in SW Washington and the Portland Metro area.

We are a humane, no-kill organization staffed entirely by dedicated volunteers.

Although we do not run an independent shelter, we feed, care for, adopt out, and spay & neuter as many animals as possible. In addition, we educate the community and are always seeking volunteers and resources that help us to accomplish our mission.

Bolognese/Bolonka Dogs Rescued

More times than we'd like, SCC is called on to help with a situation involving multiple rescues. We took on a big one. 15 Bolognese and 5 Bolonka dogs (toy breeds) ranging in ages from 2 to 12 yrs were brought into foster. All lacked grooming and vet care. All were intact. We have had a small army of volunteers tending to matted coats, taking them to vet appointments, and generally, soaking in the delight of the dogs getting what they really need-- loving attention. Now, all are getting healthy. Many of the spay/neuters have been done. Several have dental problems that we are also addressing. One little girl, Charlotte, has bad hips as well as bad teeth. A big thank you goes out to the American Bolognese Club and their members who are sponsoring her care.

Thank you to everyone who has donated money or supplies to help with their care. Special thanks also to Wild Child Pet Fashions for donating clothes for these guys. If you are in position to help, please donate. Every little bit helps.

Bolonka Rescue Dogs

Update to the Bolognese and Bolonka rescue: All 13 available dogs have been adopted. We have 7 Bolognese still in foster care-Sugar, a mom, with her 5 puppies and Charlotte who is recovering from hip surgery.
This was a huge and important undertaking. Thanks to all the dog fosters, Alder Creek Animal Hospital, PUFA, The American Bolognese Club and the community for supporting us in this endeavor.
