AniMeals Program: keeping companions together

AniMeals is one service provided by Second Chance Companions to seniors, disabled and needy individuals in Clark County Washington. We distribute pet food free of charge to Meals on Wheels recipients, individuals in assisted living and senior facilities and area food banks. This enables individuals to keep their companion animals, providing a special quality to their lives and saving their pets from an uncertain fate.

We are carefully checking all donated food and making sure it is not food that has been recalled.

We depend on community support to keep this program going. We have 5 drop off points in the Vancouver area and one might be in an area you frequent:

  • Happy Tails Dog Wash at Garrison Square on Mill Plain
  • Howl at the Moon at 137th and Padden Parkway
  • Feline Medical Clinic at 5801 NE 105th Ave
  • Beastie Boutique in Salmon Creek
  • Mind Your Manners in Battle Ground
  • Monetary contributions can be sent to SCC at our PO Box listed below.

Thank you for helping us meet our goal of keeping companions together. Additional info can be obtained by calling Peggy at 360.882.1083 or animeals@sccpets.com.

A special 'thank you' to Castor & Pollux Pet Works for their generous donation of dog and cat food to the Animeals Program. The doggies and kitties of our area appreciate your generosity!

    Frequently Asked Questions about AniMeals

How does the program obtain pet food?

Currently we obtain food from free will donations, pet food drives, and donations from area stores.

How are the meals packaged and delivered?

Volunteers package each pet's meals individually each week, and than take it to the local Meals on Wheels office. The pet meals are delivered by Meals on Wheels volunteers along with the human meals.

How can I help the program?

By making a donation of money or pet food to AniMeals, or by holding a pet food drive to benefit the program. Contact Peggy Toolis, AniMeals Team Leader 360.882.1083 or animeals@sccpets.com.

Helen Woodward Animal Center began this program in 1984 and is one of only several like it in the United States. Expanded in 1993, AniMeals now serves pets throughout San Diego County. SCC is proud to begin our own AniMeals program here in the Clark County area of Washington State.
